OUR HISTORY

1877-1890
FOUNDING YEARS
The company was founded in 1877 by Carl BREUER as a coal exporter. After the untimely death of Carl BREUER in 1890, Mr. Koenig took over the leadership and developed the company into a supplier for the mining industry.
1890-1960
Focus on the Mining Industry
In the following decades, the company expanded its activities to include a repair center for mining equipment. It also began designing and producing flameproof motors with explosion-proof enclosures.
1960-1985
Company Name and Leadership Changes
The company was incorporated as a GmbH in 1936 under the leadership of Paul Bärwinkel and the Chaudoire family. After the death of Rudolf Chaudoire, Karl Linnepe took over as the sole managing director. Under his leadership, new technologies such as soft start and full-speed controlled frequency inverters were developed and introduced.
1985-2000
Diversification and Innovation
When Mr. Dirk Linnepe joined the company as Managing Director, the focus was not only on increasing performance but also on transforming the company from a purely German customer base into a globally active company with partner and own sales locations.
2000-2024
New business lines
Since 2000, in the course of internationalization, new business lines of the company have also been developed in the Oil & Gas and Industry divisions. In addition, a completely new market was created with inverter motors, an assembly of motor and inverter. In 2014, a new production hall was added due to the good results.
2024-Today
Acquisition by HBT
Since 2024, BREUER® has been part of the international HBT Group, an alliance of powerful mid-sized companies that have combined their strengths to become a fully integrated provider of complete solutions for mining and tunneling. The company BREUER-MOTOREN GmbH & Co. KG remains as a brand name and as an independent entity within the group.
